The University of Nottingham chemistry department has put up a fantastic collection of videos online called The Periodic Table of Videos. They started with a simple brilliant idea: make an educational video for each chemistry element of the Mendeleyev periodic table we have all studied at school (some more than others). The videos are never more than 5 minutes in length, and introduce each element often with a demonstration of a simple experiment involving the element. Some of these can be quite spectacular. Their collection of YouTube videos became so popular that after covering all elements they are still shooting more videos on molecules and other well-known experiments. The professor of the department (Martyn Poliakoff) amazing "crazy scientist" look must without a doubt have contributed to the popularity of the videos. He does an amazing job of explaining chemistry with relatively simple terms.
